Benefits of Sound therapy
Sound, as a healing tool, has been around for millions of years dating as far back to the ancient Greeks and Egyptians. It is also one the easiest ways to reach a deeply relaxed and meditative state where healing can begin. We can put our minds and bodies back into balance.
Life today is very busy with our minds rarely having the chance to slow down or quieten. If we are constantly on the go with no relaxation, we may become stressed, anxious and suffer burnout. Research has found that by spending time in a relaxed state, by lowering our brain frequencies, our minds and bodies begin to heal and recharge. Through soundbaths and sound therapy our brains become entrained to the stable frequencies of the instruments. Our heart rate, breathing and brain activity synchronise to the vibrations and tones and our functioning slows down. We go into an altered state of consciousness (asc), which is like daydreaming or just before you fall asleep. You may experience feelings of pure bliss, openness, peacefulness, calmness and deep tranquility. Through this deep relaxation our minds and bodies are at rest and healing. It may also provide an opportunity to reflect, to gain insight into a life situation or may be simply a time to immerse yourself, let go and free yourself from the stresses and strains of life.
Soundbaths and sound therapy work on all our levels, physical, mental, emotional and spiritual, it encourages us to look within, helping to shift our focus and aid better health and wellbeing. It has been shown to reduce stress, improve mood, reduce anxiety, lower blood pressure, aid better sleep, help with pain management, reduce physical tension, help with overthinking, calm the mind and increase health and wellbeing. Sound has been used to help those living with depression, anxiety, grief, pain, physical tension, m.e., fibromyalgia, sleep disorders, dementia, learning disabilities and autism.
So all in all soundbaths and sound therapy is not only good for your health and well-being it may take you inside yourself to gain clarity and insight. All you have to do is come along, lay down, get comfy and close your eyes.
